People of Colombia

Do you know the history of Colombia?

In Colombia we can find a lot of people with different cultures. We  have Spain ancestors because after the precolombian period and the discovered of the New World, they came to America and colonised us in 1500.

There are ancestors from Africa too because the Spanish needed slaves to work in the colonies, so there are some of them.

But principally, they were Indians from Colombia who made their own clothes and accessories and had a beautiful culture. They had a lot of gold that the Indians cast to the lake to do a tribute for their god. It was the legend of El Dorado.  Unfortunately the Europeans came and killed many of them.

Andres Carne De Res

Most of the decoration is made of recyclable items. Andres Jaramillo is the owner and founder of the restaurant. When they see on the street will say their restaurant is very nice and cute. There is some people who come to the country just to go to the restaurant. Andres Carne De Res was founded in June 21th on 1982. Some people like Botero (Colombian famous painter) signed an object and he gave to Andres and now part of the restaurant. Being one of the most visited restaurants in Colombia, Andres Carne De Res has a variety of dishes. People go to the restaurant to enjoy the music and good food offered by the place.

Some people say’s:

-I’ll never forget the night in Andrés Carne de Res! It was one of my first nights in Colombia, and I was thrown straight into the thick of it. Amazing food, hilarious entertainment, brilliantly eccentric decor and fantastic music! The crowd is here to enjoy themselves and they seem to never leave the dance-floor! Be prepared to eat a lot, dance a lot, laugh a lot and have a great night! Not to be missed if you’re in Bogotá or Chia…although I’ve heard the Chia restaurant is worth the trip from Bogotá. We went on our way back from the Salt Cathedral, so that was handy.

-Great food and atmosphere. A little slow with drink service but very accommodating to requests. When it rains hard you discover that the roof is not actually waterproofed. Just lucky we finished before the hail storm. The great food and atmosphere mitigates any of the minor negatives.
I highly recommend the long drive to Chia if you are in Bogota.

There are also ancestors from Africa because the Spanish needed slaves to work in the colonies.

Principally, they were Indians from Colombia and other places of America, who had a very beautiful culture: They made their own clothes and accessories and had a lot of gold. There is many legends about it. One of the most famous is the legend of “El Dorado”, where Indians covered their “cacique” and made tributes for the sun God. Unfortunately the Europeans arrived and killed many of them.

Because of that, the aspects of Colombian culture can be traced to the culture of spain of the 16th century and its collision with Colombia’s native civilizations.
